We work in the field of "Experimental Archaeology":

All our Bronze Age longhouses have been reconstructed according to the results of archaeological excavations. The construction was largely under experimental conditions. Specifically, different materials have been tried, and Bronze Age techniques trialled at each stage, even down to the replica tools used at that time. This effort has paid off.

The longhouses are a very impressive sight. They are open to visitors, and give an immediate and physical impression of the construction techniques and craftsmanship of the time. In addition, the open-air museum remains a place of education, research and teaching. On-site seminars, experiments in craft techniques, and investigation into procedures for the reconstruction of archaeological findings, continue to take place.

We are an active member of the European Exchange on Archaeological Research and Communication (EXARC) and the European Association for the Advancement of Experimental Archaeology (EXAR).
